María & González: Illustrations Through A “Rear Window”

Rear Window - Drawing by María & González

In this series of drawings by María & González, various scenes are shown through the frame of a Rear Window. Some of these windows are on cars, others are on buildings. Some of the illustrations depict the same area from different viewpoints: If you look closely, you can see a sign reading “Alex” both outside a car window and reflected in the window of a bakery. While people are present in some scenes, the focus is on the buildings and landscape. These are pencil on paper drawings with color added digitally. Although there are large areas of flat color, the illustrations are quite detailed and use subtle patterns effectively. María & González is from Spain.
