Space in Between: Michal Pecko Explores Vacant Lots Left by Cities’ Evolution

Space in Between II - Art by Michal Pecko

Michal Pecko was inspired by the constant changes in urban landscapes for his series Space in Between II. More specifically, he is interested in empty lots where buildings have been demolished, leaving the nieghboring buildings’ previously-hidden walls exposed. These images were based on locations in Pecko’s home of Gdansk, Poland, as well as Strasbourg, France, and other European cities. I love the complex patterns that are created by a combination of parallel lines and diluted washes of colour.
